Congratulations, I hope and believe that any available information about the Lord's work will be send to you. My name is Yaw Bannor Asamoah I became a Christian in 1985 and a preacher in 1992. I am married to my lovely wife Hanna Aikins Asamoah in 1980. We are blessed with two sons, Obed Kofi Asamoah (22 years) and Yaw Bannor Asamoah Jnr. (12 years). Kofi is an Evangelsim leader at his higher school a song leader, I am proud of him. Yaw is in His junior school, a first year student. In between Kofi and Yaw I lost a boy and a girl. I began my present church about 14 years a go with 46 members, worshiping at a Government School Block and at the moment we have our own church house with a membership of 167 as at now. I established a congregation at a village some few kilometers from Ewusiejoe called Aketenkye and I am happy to say I have a preacher who is now mining that church and every week I delegate brethren from Ewuseijoe to help that preacher and they are about 45-50 members. Ewuseijoe has a very big palm plantation so the church used to get some of the workers to become Christians. Due to transfers and some left the job and go to their home town. We have many of these people so during all this period tens of people have become Christians. In the last 5 years my relationship with churches around me is cordial because 8 churches have come together and the preachers do rotate on every month and personal evangelism is done in each of these towns. This program is on going; A program has been prepared for the church. We wanted to reach out to every house and cottages around Ewusiejoe area for this year and it would be continued if found to be successful. We try to preach three times a year so I have divided the town into 3 zones of which quarterly I will preach one zone for 5 days. All is public. I do lose my voice if I preach a little bit long. The church has established a secular school and it has begun yielding fruit because it has increased the number of kids to about 70 on every Sunday school. I have decide that a special bible class is needed for them so that by next five or more years to come most of this children will turn out to be Christians. Some of their parents are now visiting us and we have 8 of them as Christians. We have planned to plant trees starting from this year, because there is one big stream (river) across the end of the town and it is drying out so we want to plant trees around it banks and in some advantage points in the town, the stream is the source of drinking water the people through ignorance has fell down tree around it and we wanted to replant them and educate them also. This year I have asked all the members to bring 10 visitors each and anyone who can do so will be honored and if found to be successful it will continue. We believe through this we will get more baptisms. We have an organization called Outreach Africa of which I am a member this organization which caters for the needy. (The orphan homes; prisons, refugees of which even Wood St. Church of Christ has helped before and the aged.) We feed and distribute second hand clothes such as used t-shirts, dresses of any kind, used shoes etc. and rice. All this is made possible through a leader who used to visit U.S.A. Every year this particular program has brought fame to the church here in Ghana We also dug wells in the villages since it is difficult for my people to get good drinking water. The program is on going. If nothing happens it is our goal that we dig about 20 wells a year. I hope to hear from you and I pray that God will use us to do more for Him. Your Bro. Yaw Back to Top |
